If you made it, thanks for coming, you're the reason the 2nd Annual Surf N Turf was a success. If you missed it, mark your calendar and we'll hope to see you next year! The best part about Surf N Turf was seeing so many Cruiserheads, from so many places, coming together for a good time. The Oceano Dunes State Park is a great place to hang out and enjoy our Toyota Land Cruisers. There was plenty of room to camp on the beach and 1,500 acres of sand dunes to explore.

It was like, wow! Jim Brantley's call to fun was heard from all over, and Cruiserheads from all walks of life came. Seeing all the various makes and mods of 'Cruisers and Tacomas, and seeing their respective performances off-road, was exciting and very pleasurable. We had Toyota 4x4's running and jumping all over the sand dunes like it was some sort of desert warfare exercise :-) But I guess the best parts are seeing father-son, father-daughter, husband-wife, friends and lovers having a great time together and building up stronger bonds between them.

This year, we estimated over 75 vehicles on the beach. Almost every make, model and year of Land Cruiser and Toyota Truck was represented. We had 40s, 42s, 45s (trucks and wagons), 55s (and a 56 firetruck), 60s, 61s, 62s, 70s, 80s and 100s. There were FJs, BJs, HJs, FZJs, and even LX450s. Powered by Fs, 2Fs, 3FE, 1FZ-FE, 2UZ-FE, 3B, 13B-T, 12H-T, 1HD-FT and a few Chevy V8s. And that's just the Land Cruisers!

On top of that, there were several makes, models and years of Toyota Trucks and 4Runners! All together it was an impressive collection of Toyota 4WDs.

Some folks showed up a day early or stayed a day late. They were rewarded with sunshine before and after the weekend storm.

Unfortunately, the ominous weather kept a few would be Surf N Turf'ers at home. Others wheeled the dunes and socialized in camp during the day but spend the nights at the nearby motels. However, not surprisingly, most Cruiserheads are adventurous souls who not only manage a good time camping in the rain, but have a blast doing it. Despite the showers, or maybe because of them, there was plenty of people socializing around the bonfire or under the tarps.

Throw up a few blue tarps, light off a big pile of firewood and let the good times roll!!!

For all of you that could't attend I highly recommend you go next year. This was my first LC event and we had a great time! As an "outsider" we felt very welcome, the camraderie among the group was refreshing to witness. Everyone we met was very friendly - wish we could have spent more time getting to know all of you. Next year maybe we will camp?

The trip was WAY cool! To all who missed it this year, make sure to do what ever it takes to make it out for the next one. Everything from the driving into a camp-city of cruisers to ending at the historic Pozo Saloon was just the best.

We had a great time, and will definitely be back next year (if not sooner)...

We opted to go back to the dunes before heading out. There is too much to see down there in just 2 days!
